Before you decide to purchase a wireless home security camera it’s good to know what you really mean when you say wireless home security camera. What is wireless, anyway?

What it means to have a wireless home security camera is that you will not have any video cable from the home security camera to the monitor (or TV or VCR, whichever you are using for surveillance). This eliminates annoying and sometimes dangerous wires from running across your home’s interior.

A wireless home security camera is still going to need power. This is the same whether you’re using a camera that is hidden or you have the basic wireless camera installed outdoors. To give you an example, if you purchased one wireless home security camera, a clock radio that has a camera hidden inside, for instance, you would have to plug that into a wall outlet just as if it were a standard clock radio. If you hide a camera in your smoke detector it’s going to need an external power supply too. So this wireless home security camera would have to be accessed somewhere behind your ceiling or wall in order to work.

A wireless home security camera still has to have access to some power outlet. With the purchase of a wireless home security camera you’ll get a receiver, also wireless. This receiver is used to connect your wireless home security camera to your surveillance equipment whether TV or VCR. The wireless receiver is also going to need a power supply outlet.

So, to put it succinctly, the only thing a wireless home security camera is going to eliminate for you is that ugly and dangerous video cable.

Almost all cameras can be turned into a wireless home security camera. If you need an outdoor wireless home security camera you’ll want either an infrared LED camera or a bullet camera. The latter is one of the most popular of the wired or wireless home security cameras, because it can be used indoors as well as out, it’s very small and comes plug and play ready. The infrared camera will change from color to black and white once it gets dark outside. Its internal sensor notes the decrease in light as dusk approaches, turns off its color, and activates the infrared feature. You can choose from numerous clarity and coverage distance options.
The other category choices of wireless home security camera are hidden and board (small eye) cameras, both for indoor use.

A wireless home security camera system includes a camera, a transmitter, a security receiver and two power supplies to run not only the camera but also the receiver. The home security transmitter connects to the wireless camera. The receiver connects to your monitoring device, whether you choose a TV, a computer monitor or a VCR.

If you have a camera that is hardwired and you wish to convert it to a wireless home security camera you can order just a home security camera transmitter and receiver online.

You won’t have to do any wiring or soldering to change your hard wire camera into a wireless home security camera. You simply plug your new security transmitter into your camera and plug in your power supply for both.

A wireless home security system runs on a radio frequency (RF) that powers the sensor-to-sensor communication as well as communication to and from the main control. Top of the line wireless home security systems run on an encryption code that is digitized so that no one will be able to duplicate its signal. Most wireless home security systems have a range of 300-600 feet between sensors and between each sensor and the primary controller unit.

If you’re looking for a wireless home security system, you don’t have to narrow down your options as a result of eliminating those intrusive wires. Your wireless home security system options are still vast.

You can, for example, choose a wireless home security door and window sensor system. Actually, this is the most common feature of a wireless home security set up. It basically protects your home from an intruder at any point of entry. This would include all doors and any window that is accessible from ground level. You can, of course, opt to place sensors on higher-level windows as well.
A wireless home security system can also offer glass-breaking detection too.

The primary feature of this detection is that the frequency caused by the sound of breaking glass is heard, although you can as well opt for a wireless home security system that can look for a change in pressure in the room that is being intruded upon. What this does is eliminate false alarms set off by accidental window or other glass breaks. Most breaking glass detection has a maximum range of 40 feet, which means that in almost every case one sensor on one window or glass in your door would protect the entire room.

A smoke detector is always a wise option when you choose a wireless home security system. Not only does this warn you of a fire so that you and your family can safely exit but it also alerts the local fire department to expedite the possibility that your home can be saved. Even if you are not on the premises a wireless home security smoke detector will work every hour of every day to ensure that if a fire breaks out fire fighters will know and respond quickly.

Another option in wireless home security is a motion detector. Called a passive infrared (PIR) detector, these home security features sense body heat within a range of 25-45 feet and even at an angle up to 90 degrees. The ideal location for your wireless home security motion detector is in a corner of the room.

Typically this system will have both a home and an away status. The home status will keep only the perimeter motion detectors active so that you and your family are not setting off the interior motion detector alarms. If, however, you vacate your home you would set your wireless home security motion detectors to the away status, which would trigger any motion inside your home in a room that had a motion detector.

You can even go so far as to choose a wireless home security motion detector that is immune to your pet. What you would do is set the system to ignore any object that is below a designated height.

You can as well opt for your own personal wireless home security panic button. A lot of folks, such as the elderly, wear these as a pendant around their neck. They can press them easily in case of emergency.

A wireless home security system is a burglar alarm that does not use wires to transmit messages; instead it uses radio waves to communicate. This leaves the burglar or the intruder clueless, who does not know which wires to cut to deactivate the alarm.

There are two kinds of wireless burglar alarms. The first is the one that goes off when an intruder breaks into a house. This alarm can only be heard by the home owner or the neighbors. The other is the monitored wireless alarm. In this case, the intruders entry is communicated to a security company which first checks if the alarm is genuine, and then informs the local police.

The heart or what many call the brains — of a wireless home security system is the control panel. It is generally located in a closet or a basement, and receives all wireless communications radioed by magnetic switches and motion sensors located in the house. The control panel is programmed to sound the alarm or dial the central monitoring system whenever it receives a suspicious movement or suspicious entry signal from the magnetic contacts.

The magnetic contacts, which are attached to windows and doors, comprise of two parts: a switch installed in the window or door jam and a magnet placed in the door or window. An alarm signal goes off whenever the distance between the switch and the magnet increases.

Body sensors are placed in large halls. They use the passive infrared motion detection method to sense motion or body heat. This motion is then signaled to the control panel which then analyzes the threat level before sending an alert to the central monitoring station.

Each wireless security system comes equipped with a keypad, which is used to arm or disarm the system. The keypad is normally installed next to the entry door so that the owner can activate the alarm system when leaving the house and deactivate it on returning.

The system can also be operated by remote keys which are like the car remote keys. The homeowner can use them to switch on lights from a distance to give an appearance that the house is inhabited.

Besides this, wireless systems can also use cameras, both hidden and wall-mounted to monitor movement. These cameras are connected to a video unit which is attached to a VCR. The VCR records all movement spotted by the cameras even when the owner is away.

The complexity of a wireless home security alarm kit depends upon the number of features the system has. The more the features, the more complex is the alarm system. Generally, the wireless security alarm kit comprises of the following components:

Control Panel: Control panel is the heart of the security system because it controls all the operations. It is installed at a convenient place like a closet or a basement. The control panel works as the brains of the alarm system. It receives and analyzes all radio signals that are transmitted by sensors.

Sensors and transmitters: Sensors and transmitters work in tandem. Whenever there is a change in the surrounding environment (such as someone entering the premises), the sensors detect the changes. Using transmitters, these changes are sent as radio waves to the control panel. The control panel analyzes these signals, and triggers an alarm whenever the activity enters the suspicious range.

Touch pads: Remote touch pads are installed at convenient places around the house. They can be operated from a distance through remote keys, and can be used to switch on lights even when the family is sitting at a friends place.

Central monitoring receivers: They are generally hooked to the telephone line and are part of monitored alarm systems. An individual has the option to subscribe to central monitoring or not. Those who decide to go for central monitoring have the advantage of professionals monitoring all suspicious activity in and around their home. Those who do not will only be alerted by their wireless alarm systems in case of a break in.

Sirens: They are mainly used to frighten the intruders whenever they approach the house. They also alert the home owner, who can then take necessary steps to protect his premises.

Lamp modules: They are basically light timers. They create an impression as if someone is present in the house. They work as a deterrent, and keep burglars away.

Besides the above components, a wireless security kit also includes the following: a Telco jack, a yard sign and window decals, a battery back-up power supply, theft protection guarantee and homeowners insurance discount guarantee.

A wireless burglar alarm system uses motion sensors, windows and door contacts to keep track of activity taking place in and around the house. These sensors are not connected by wires but use radio waves to communicate with a control panel. The alarm system can be armed or disarmed by a keypad control that is kept with the house owner.

The main components of the wireless alarm system are as follow:

Control Panel: This works as the brains of the alarm system. It is generally located in a closet or a basement for safety and receives signals emanating from the sensors placed strategically across the house. The control panel triggers an alarm whenever it detects suspicious activity.

Keypad: It is used to arm or disarm the alarm system and is generally located near the entry door. Today keypads come with illuminated screens that provide greater visibility at night and one-touch function keys, which provide single-button operation for arming or disarming during emergencies.

Magnetic contacts: They are used to safeguard windows and doors. They consist of a switch that is installed in the window or a door jam and a magnet. The magnet is installed next to the switch. An alarm goes off whenever the distance between the switch and the magnet increases.

Contact sensors: These are passive infrared motion detectors, popularly knows as PIRs. They sense motion or body heat in areas covered by them, and trigger an alarm. PIRs are generally used when the family is away or in areas where no one is expected to be present.

Home security cameras: Many house owners now prefer to install wireless cameras connected to a video monitor to track suspicious movements. These cameras are easy to install, and provide an extra layer of security.

Monitoring: Most monitoring services have a central monitoring unit that pick up radio waves transmitted by the control panel. They use these radio waves to track security of customer homes. However, it is for an individual to decide whether he wants central monitoring too as part of the wireless alarm system.

Remote Keys: They are very useful in managing your security needs. These remote keys can be operated from a distance to turn on the lights on or to switch them off. They can also be used to arm or disarm sensors as per the needs of a family.

The topic of weather disaster security for you and your home is a very important topic, especially in light of the recent news on various hurricanes hitting different countries and continents. There are many different weather disasters that can pose a danger to your house and to your life. For example, these are storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, rising water levels and many others. This article will discuss several weather disaster security topics that will allow you to take steps to protect your family and your home during the times of weather disasters. Following these steps does not eliminate the dangers completely but does increase the overall level of your security. You will be better prepared to deal will various weather disasters in case one of these disasters happen in the location where you live. Even in the case when you were evacuated, these steps will help to protect your house.

The most important step that needs to be discussed when talking about the weather disaster security for you and your home is to prepare in advance for those disastrous events. Some of the general home security steps will also apply here. For example, if you installed enforced glass in your windows, this will not only protect you from possible burglars but will also protect you and your house from storm or hurricanes breaking the window and damaging the inside of your house. If you are living in the location with high chance of weather disasters, you should even think about doubling the level of security. For example, installing a double enforced glass in your windows instead of a single glass would definitely provide a higher protection for your home. Also, if you install a good strong door, this will also help you to protect your house both from possible burglars and from weather disaster damages. The idea is to prepare your house to make sure that the weather disaster does not damage it a lot. This involves making sure that all the parts of your house are very strong and enforced. We already talked about the windows and doors. Other things that may need enforcement include your gate, your garage door, etc.

You should also make sure that you have everything you might need if you are stuck inside your house during the weather disaster, whether you did not want to evacuate or it was simply not possible. For example, you need to make sure that you have a fully charged backup source of power and several good flashlights. A spare charged cell phone battery is also recommended. You should also have various tools in case you will need to fix something in a hurry. A basic medical kit should be available, to make sure that you have access to it in a case of medical emergency. You should also have fresh water and food items that don t need to be refrigerated. These items should be a backup source and should be securely stored somewhere inside your house. There are several other items that you may need. This depends on your location and on possible weather dangers that your location may experience. The main idea is to be prepared in advance in case the weather disaster happens.

You should also contact your local fire prevention department, police department or local government office for their advice on what you can do to protect your house and your family during an event of some type of weather disaster. These organizations will be able to provide you with the detailed explanation of the steps that you will need to take - the steps that are specific to your location and area. These authorities have developed disaster recovery plans and will be able to provide you with valuable and specialized advice. You can also find out the main ways used to warn the public about approaching hurricanes, tornadoes or storms, so you know that something will be happening in advance and have time to evacuate, if it is necessary. However, even if you do evacuate, the steps that you took to make your house secure will protect it during the weather disaster even when you are gone. Again, being prepared in advance is the most important step to protect your family and your house.

The video surveillance system is used both at home and in commercial establishments to monitor movement of people. Also known as closed circuit TV (CCTV) it is used to monitor pathways and insecure areas around homes to prevent break ins and intrusions.

A video surveillance system is made up of the following:

Monitors: They are used to display video information processed by strategically placed cameras in and around the house. These monitors have better video resolution than the standard television receivers The resolution of a black-and-white CCTV monitor ranges from 700-1000 lines whereas the colored monitors have a resolution of 350-400 lines.

Cameras: They are placed at strategic locations to monitor the movement of unknown or suspicious persons. They beam this information to the monitors.

Coaxial cabling: It is used to transport video information from the cameras to the monitors.

Switchers: They are used to hook two or more cameras to a monitor. Advanced switchers provide facility to hook alarm inputs so that the corresponding camera is targeted and locked when the alarm is activated.

The camera is the most important component in any video surveillance system, and great care should be taken while buying it. Some of the points that should be kept in mind while buying cameras are:
?
a) How many cameras are needed to effectively monitor the exteriors and interiors of a home?
??
b) Is there a need for both audio and visual inputs?

c) ??Should the cameras take color or black-and-white images?

d) ??Should the cameras be wired or should they be wireless?

The placement and installation of cameras is equally important. The following points should be kept in mind before installing the camera:

a) The farther the camera is placed, the larger will be the area of view. However, the clarity will be proportionately lesser.

b) There should be no blind spots caused by trees, boundaries, poles etc.

c) The height of the camera should be such that it is not easily accessible from the ground.

A user has several options while selecting a home video surveillance system. He can have the securities camera connected to a PC or to a TV and a VCR. The camera can be wireless or wired. The user also has the option to use hidden or spy cameras.

The user can either install the video surveillance system himself or else hire a video surveillance and monitoring service to carry out the task.

There are many different ways to protect your home, your personal belongings and your family from possible burglars. The recent advances in technology contributed to the development of a lot of new and improved equipment for home security. This article will talk about different video equipment that is used in the security industry. Video equipment not only allows preventing possible theft attempts but also can provide evidence for convicting the criminals that participated in robbery. Video equipment allows you to have a professional surveillance of your house, land, cars and personal belongings.

There are many different types of video equipment used for security purposes. The most popular type that you will hear about most of the time includes various video cameras. There are many types and characteristics of video cameras. For example, one type of cameras that you can find for sale is hidden cameras. These cameras are made in such a way that when they are installed properly, it is very hard to notice them. They are usually very small and don t require a lot of space to install them. Another type of cameras is infrared (or day and night ) cameras. These cameras are designed to be installed mostly outside. Infrared cameras work as regular color cameras during the day. When it gets dark, the camera switches to infrared mode by turning on the black and white mode and turning on the infrared light. This provides much better quality of the recorded (and viewable) picture during the time it is dark (night).

Another important distinction of video cameras deals with the way the images are delivered to your TV or video (or digital) recorder. The first and the most popular type of cameras uses wireless way of transmission of information. Wireless cameras require additional equipment: wireless transmitter and receiver. The transmitter is usually either attached to the camera itself or is already installed inside the camera (as one system). The role of the transmitter is to transfer to the receiver the images that the camera records. The receiver is attached to your VCR or TV. Its role is to catch the images sent by the camera and to display them on the screen. The benefit of wireless cameras is the fact that there are no cables connecting then to the TV. This makes the camera less noticeable and easier to install and maintain. However, wireless cameras are usually somewhat more expensive then regular wired ones.

If you are purchasing video cameras to be installed outside of your house, you should definitely make sure that the cameras that you are purchasing are weatherproof. This is especially important if you live in a location where weather changes often. By purchasing weatherproof cameras you are saving money in a long run. These cameras will work much longer and will provide you with a lot more security and safety. For example, if a theft attempt is made during the bad weather period, your weatherproof camera will continue to work and will protect you from possible losses resulting from the theft attempt.

Indoor cameras are also available for sale. It is a good idea to install indoor cameras in all of the locations inside your house where you keep your valuables (for example, a room where you installed your safe). If you would like to install outside wireless cameras, you should probably experiment with inside cameras first. The reason for this is the fact that wireless transmission is easier to set up and test inside the house due to the line of sight limitations (making sure transmitter and receiver work together).

When you purchase your VCR or digital recorder to be installed with the video system, you should take a look at the video motion detection equipment. This equipment (whether already installed in the VCR or as a separate tool) allows to do the recording only when motion is detected by the equipment. This will allow storing more information on your storage device (VCR tape, DVD, hard drive, etc.). Many cameras also provide such features as zoom and audio capability. The zoom feature allows you to use the camera to see a more detailed picture. The audio feature allows for both sound and video recording.

There are many different home security tips that are very helpful in making your house safe and secure. This article will list ten of the most important security tips. Following these tips will decrease the chances that your house will be robbed or vandalized.

The first and the most important tip is to purchase a homeowner s insurance. Purchasing insurance for your most valuable possessions is a next step. If you have the proper insurance, even if all your security measures fail, you may still be able to return a portion of lost valuables. Many of the insurance companies will require you to install some type of the security system before an insurance policy will be issued to you. The tip number 2 is to store the most expensive and most valuable items (including jewelry, money, etc.) in a safe deposit box in the bank. This step will definitely protect your valuables. The expensive items that are needed in the house can be kept in the safe.

The tip number 3 is to install the alarm system and sign up for the alarm monitoring service. When you are installing the alarm system, make sure that the fire and smoke detectors are integrated with the system. The alarm monitoring service is also very important. Without the monitoring, you can not be sure what time will pass before someone will notice the fact that the system went off and will call the police. With the alarm monitoring system the police department is contacted right away.

The tip number 5 is to include motion detectors as a part of your alarm system. Motion detectors can be installed inside the house and near windows and doors. With motion detectors you will become aware of any movement inside the house. The alarm system will be triggered by the detector and the monitoring company will be notified. It is also a good advice to have a motion sensor light outside your house.

The tip number 6 deals with the situation when you are installing video cameras as a part of your security system. When you are installing video cameras, you should purchase the cameras that provide infrared functionality. There cameras will usually switch to the black and white mode and will turn infrared LEDs when it gets dark. The tip number 7 deals with the power down situations. You should purchase and charge the back up power supply in advance. In a case of a power down situation a back up power supply will keep you security system up and running and your house protected. Without a power supply you risk a complete stop in the functionality of your security system.

The tip number 8 is to go wireless. If you have wired cameras, you should probably upgrade them to wireless cameras that don t need a wire connecting them to the VCR. Wireless cameras are easier to install, manage and hide. The chances are that it will be harder to notice a wireless camera then a wired one. If you signed up for the alarm monitoring systems, you should check if the security company has a wireless option (when the system can use cellular link to contact the company if the alarm goes off).

The tip number 9 is to make sure that you lock your doors and windows every time you leave the house. Also don t forget to turn your alarm on before you leave and turn it off when you come back. If you don t do these simple steps, even the most expensive security system may not be able to protect you.

The tip number 10 is to join a neighborhood watch program, if there is one. This is definitely very important. If you are not at home, some of your neighbors may be. If they can keep an eye on your house, this will provide an additional level of security. Talk to your neighbors and see if you can join a program. If there is no neighborhood watch program in place, it might be a good idea to discuss the possibility of creating one with your neighbors.

The first thing that you must never do is to leave a copy of your key somewhere where another person will be able to find it and use it to open your door. There are many examples where people leave a spare key: under the door mat, under the rock near the door, on the top of the door frame, etc. Some people leave a spare key at work in their desk or in the glove compartment of the car. All of these places are insecure. You should never leave a spare key anywhere where it can be found. This is a very logical instruction but you will be surprised how many people actually don t follow it. A burglar can simply watch after your actions when you leave the house and notice where you are hiding your key. After that the burglar will have an easy access to your house and will be able to break in fast and with fewer obstacles in his or her way.

When you are enforcing your windows, you should never give more attention to the first floor windows and forget to enforce the second (thirds, etc) floor windows. Even though the first floor windows are in more danger from a possibility of a break in, a burglar may use this statistics to his or her advantage and try to brake in from the top window. For example, a burglar may climb to the roof of your house and try to break the top floor window from the roof. Alternatively, a burglar may try to use a ladder to climb to the top floor window level and break in through these windows. You should make sure that all the windows in your house are equally secured from the possibility of a break in. For example, you may want to install enforced glass in your windows and change your locks for more secure ones.

The third thing that you should never do is to leave the inside garage door unprotected. If a burglar is successful in breaking into your garage and your inside door that connects your garage to your house (assuming you have one) is open, the burglar will be able to rob both your garage and your house. You should make sure that your inside garage door is as strong as your front door and has couple locks protecting it from a burglary attempt. You might also want to install a motion detector in your garage so the motion detector can activate your alarm system in case a burglary is attempted through the garage.

The forth thing you must do is never to give out any secret entrance codes to other people beside your immediate family members. When we are talking about secret entrance codes, we mean the codes that you use to open any electronic locks on your doors, entrance gate, safe, etc. The login to your home computer network or just a personal computer should be also kept a secret. If you have children and they know your access codes, talk to them and explain that they should also keep these codes in secret. If someone finds out your access code change it to a new one immediately to prevent the potential leakage of this information. If it gets into the wrong hands, this may end up in a robbery attempt.

The last fifth thing that you must make sure you never do is to let others see your personal and financial information. Whether it is your credit cards statement, a printout of your time schedule or a simple letter with some of your private information, make sure that only you have access to this information. If you need to throw away any of the printouts with your personal or financial information, you should always use a paper shredder first. If this information gets into the wrong hands, it can be used as a reason for a robbery attempt. For example, if a robber sees your credit cards statement and a record of a large purchase that you made, this may give him or her good reason to rob your house. Always keep this information in a hidden and secure place.

There are many different things that can be done to protect your home from burglaries. Following different home security steps will allow you to protect your house, your family and your personal belongings. This article will examine and discuss 10 of the most important things that you must do to protect your house from burglaries and break in attempts. The first thing to do is to make sure that your doors and windows are secure. Your doors should be strong and installed with care by a professional. The locks should be of top quality and should be impossible to pick. Having several locks for your door is a great way to increase the level of your security. Same goes for your windows. Your windows on every floor in your house should be enforced by installing a hard to break type of glass and secure locks. The window lock should be attached to the frame or should use some other type of secure construction.

The second thing to do is to make sure that you can see what is going on outside. You need to check if any tree branches are preventing you from looking outside. If necessary, you should cut off these branches to increase the viewable area. This is important because you need to be able to look outside and see if there is any danged to your house, to your property or to your family. The third thing to do is to install a motion sensor light outside. This way if someone knocks at your door, you will clearly see who that person is, even if it is dark outside. You will also be warned in advance is someone is coming close to your house and to your front door.

The forth thing you should do is to move all your valuables and expensive items away from the windows. If a burglar happens to walk by your house and sees that there is something valuable inside, this might give him or her good reason to try to break into your house. By making sure that your valuables cannot be seen from the windows, you are trying to prevent the possibility that the burglary might happen. Having curtains for your windows always helps. The fifth thing that you must do is to sign up for the neighborhood watch program. This will not cost you much money but will definitely help you to protect your house. You neighbors will watch out for your house and your property and will call police in case something wrong happens.

The sixth thing you must do is to install a good alarm system. Adding motion detectors to your alarm system is even better as it will increase the likelihood that your alarm will be triggered even by a very clever burglary attempt. The seventh thing you must do is to sign up for the alarm monitoring service. This way the police department will be notified if your alarm is triggered by someone trying to break into your house. This is especially useful if you are not at home most of the time.

The eighth thing you must do is to make sure all your doors are locked when you are leaving the house. If you live in an apartment building, make sure that the main building and complex doors are locked after you leave. In you live in a house, make sure that your front door, your back doors, your garage door, your shed door and your main entrance gate are all locked. Same goes for all your window locks.

The ninth thing you must do is to make sure that all of your water, gas and electrical equipment is turned off to prevent the inside dangers: fire, water flooding, electrical fire, gas lick and many others. By spending an extra minute to check those things you can prevent many different dangers that can destroy your property, your belongings and may even endanger your life. The tenth thing you must do is to make sure that your house has operational smoke and fire detectors. You should check these detectors often to make sure that they have good batteries and that they are working. Carbon monoxide and natural gas detectors will also be extremely useful.

It is very important to make sure that your house is protected from various dangers. Whether you are increasing the protection of your house from the possibility of a break in or burglary, the possibility of an inside danger of something else, you also need to provide a back up solution in case your protection methods fail. For example, if somebody succeeds in breaking into your house or there is a fire that destroys all of your belongings, you need to think what you can do in this case to return all or a part of your belongings. The solution to this situation is insurance. The value of insurance in home protection is enormous. It allows you to protect your home and your personal belongings and valuable even if something does happen to them.

There are several different types of insurance programs. One insurance may protect your belongings and your house from one danger; another insurance from another danger. Some insurance programs provide several levels of protection and may combine protection from different dangers. You should at least have homeowners insurance, but it is not possible to say whether your homeowners insurance will protect you from all the dangers. Different insurance companies offer different insurance programs. You might need to purchase additional level of protection or even one or several additional insurance programs. Your most expensive valuables will most likely need a separate protection. For example, if you have expensive paintings, they will most likely need a separate insurance. The suggestion here is to read through your specific house insurance program and see what it covers and what additional protection needs to be purchased.

You should definitely purchase an insurance that will protect your house in case of a fire. A protection from other inside dangers (a water flooding, for example) is also advised. With the fire protection insurance, in case your preventive and security measures fail, you will be compensated for the damage to your house. With that compensation you will be able to repair or rebuild the house. You will still lose a lot of time and money, but you will not lose it all. Check whether your insurance protects your belongings that are destroyed by fire and if this type of protection is possible at all with your insurance program. You will, most likely, have to show your insurance company that you have a certain type of fire protection system installed in your house. For example, you may be required to have a fire protection system monitoring service at your house before you can get an insurance policy.

Another important type of insurance is the one that will protect your house in case of a burglary. You should also find out what is the exact level of protection that your insurance provides. Check if your belongings are insured. Also check if your house is insured from damage and vandalism. The more protection you can get, the better off you are. This way, in a case of a successful burglary, you will be able to return a large part of your losses. However, this type of insurance also requires you to install some specific type of security system in your house. For example, you may be required to install an alarm system and to sign up for the alarm monitoring service. If some of the expensive items in your house are not protected, it is a good idea to purchase a several insurance to protect them.

The last advice is related to the process of shopping for various insurance programs. You should see if you can get a better deal if you purchase your insurance from one company. You may be able to get a package deal that will cost you much less them purchasing insurance protection programs separately from several different companies. Make sure you read about the details of your insurance policies and the details about the claim process. Also make sure that you satisfy all the requirements that your insurance company demands from you to satisfy. This will allow you to eliminate any possible problems in the future, if case something happens and you do need to file a claim with the company.

Air pressure home security systems are used to determine if an entryway, such as a door or window, has been opened by an intruder.

One such volumetric portable alarm monitor is a small but smart air pressure home security system that is alerted to the slightest change in air pressure that occurs with the opening or closing of a door or window. It can do so in a closed area that measures up to 1000 square feet. This particular air pressure home security system is a lightweight portable model and as such you can take it with you anywhere you go and feel safe - whether it’s at home, at the office, in a hotel room, or in your recreation vehicle.

The way the air pressure home security systems work is that the noted air pressure change triggers an alarm 105 decibels loud. You can actually alter its mode of recognition for degrees of pressure. If, for example, the recognition is in the fine mode all an intruder would have to do is touch a door handle and the alarm would sound. You can also choose to set it at silent mode in which case there would be no alarm noise, just a blinking red LED light.

This portable air pressure home security system works on three AAA batteries and retails at well under $100.
If you’re a handy do it yourselfer you can create your own air pressure feature in your home security systems with the purchase of an air pressure sensor and installation into many home security systems. This air pressure home security system switch is extremely sensitive to air pressure. In fact, it can sense air pressure changes in home security systems that are as minimal as one tenth of a millimeter. This air pressure sensor is responsive only to very low frequency changes in air pressure.
What this means is that when its application is as an air pressure home security system in a room that is sealed tight and it senses a door or window being opened or closed it will respond, setting of the loud alarm. If, however, there is an audible sound wave, which gives offer air pressure changes at a relatively high frequency, the air pressure home security system sensor would not alarm.
The air pressure sensor, besides its use in air pressure home security systems, can also be used for other home electronic systems or industrial equipment.

The second issue with air pressure in home security systems is fire prevention. Monitoring of home sprinkler systems is an important part of keeping you, your loved ones and your residence safe. In fact, the U.S. federal Fire Administration has reported that not one person has ever lost her or his life in a facility that had a sprinkler system. Air pressure in home fire prevention security systems is a critical element of the sprinkler system’s ability to function as it is designed. It is the job of a fire technician (inspector) to monitor low as well as high air pressure sprinkler system switches.

If you would like to increase the level of your home security, you ll have access to many technological systems and equipment to help you in achieving your goal. We live in an age of technology and many of the recent advances in the field of technology affected the home security field as well. Various technical systems were developed specifically for the home security industry. Many more of the old systems were significantly improved or completely redesigned. New systems make your home much more secure and safe. If addition to all the benefits the price of the security systems continues for fall, making new technology available for general public. And the development of new technology continues. New and improved hi-tech security systems are developed constantly allowing to add more and more protection for your home, your family and your personal belongings. The future holds many more developments and innovations both in the technology and home security industry. It is also clear that the prices of the security products will continue to fall, letting a larger share of the people to improve their home security.

One of the major advances happened in the field of alarm systems and surveillance systems. New alarm systems offer more functionality then the old ones. Having an alarm with just a simple siren is no longer enough to protect your home. Nowadays you can purchase an alarm system that will detect movement and that can be connected to the alarm monitoring service through a regular or cellular phone link. In addition to that, video surveillance equipment will allow you to view and record what is going on outside and inside of your house. Many different types of video cameras were developed, including infrared cameras and wireless cameras. Wireless cameras allow you to connect you camera to the receiving equipment without the use of any wires. There are also cameras and receiving equipment that will only record when the movement in the video stream was detected. Audio component can also be added to your surveillance system for a little additional cost.

Another important development was the use of personal computers in home security industry. Nowadays you can connect your entire security system (including alarms, motion detectors and video cameras) to your personal computer. There are software packages that were developed specifically for this reason. You can use your personal computer and software to control your security system to make it more efficient. For example, your wireless video camera can send a video stream to your computer. The recording will be done when the software detects the movement. The actual video data will be stored on the computer hard drive, completely eliminating the VCR and TV from this system. All the components of your security system will interact with one another through your computer and software. This increases the functionality without increasing the cost of the security system. In addition to the above innovations, special systems were developed to control the appliances in your home. For example, you can program your computer to turn on and off your inside lights at some specific preset times.

There are systems that were developed to protect your personal and financial information. If you have your information stored on your home computer, there are software systems that will limit the access to your computer only to the authorized users. If someone breaks into your house for the purpose of stealing your information, they will not be able to access it because of the security protection that you installed. The example of the technology discussed here includes computer firewalls. There are also systems that will generate password every minute and that will prevent the possibility of someone using the password that you accidents made public. There are protection systems for your financial information. For example, no one but you will be able to access your credit card and banking statements. These are just a few examples as a lot of other technological systems are currently in use and are still being developed. We will see even better and much more secure systems in the near future as we see all advances in the technology field. These future advances will make our life and property safe and secure.

Access to information is very important nowadays. Sometime information can be your most valuable asset that you would want to keep secure, whether you are at home or at work. If you are at work, it is most likely that there is already an advanced security system implemented for the purpose of information protection. However, when you are at home, you must make sure yourself that your personal and financial information is safe and secure. This article will list 10 important steps that you need to take to make sure that you protect your personal and financial information at all times.

The step number 1 is to make sure that if you store valuable information on your computer, it has proper security software installed that eliminated the possibility of an unauthorized access. There are many different software packages that will help you to achieve this goal, both for your personal computer and for your home computer network. The step number 2 is to protect your personal information that you have in a printed form. For example, imagine if you have a valuable report that describes research and development results from one of your company s projects. If you want to be certain that this information is protected, you should keep this information is a secure hidden location. The best advice for the type of location that you need to select would be to use your home safe or something similar in nature.

The step number 3 is to make sure that you never leave your portable computer of printouts of valuable information in your car. If it gets stolen, even the best security system can eventually be broken, in which case the protected information will be accessed. Even it the security system is never broken, you can simply lose all the information. The step number 4 is related to the previous step and specifies that you need to create a back up of your information so in the case the information is stolen or lost, it is not lost completely. If you do have a backup data source, you can restore most of the lost information. The step number 5 is to make sure that if you have a wireless network inside your house, this network in encrypted and does not allow unauthorized access. This will protect you from the possibility that someone is trying to steal your information by accessing your wireless network without authorization.

The step number 6 is to make sure that you keep your login and other access codes secure. Never write them down anywhere. Also never tell them to other people. If someone finds out your login information, they may be able to use it to their advantage. For example, you can understand the possible dangers when someone is able to login into your bank account without your knowledge. The step number 7 is to make sure that you change your access codes often. If someone does find about your access code, you should change it immediately to protect yourself from the possibility of someone accessing your accounts or other secure locations. The step number 8 is related to the previous step and states that you need to be certain that you log off your computer and all secure locations before you leave the computer room. This will also prevent the possibility of unauthorized access.

The step number 9 is to ensure that you destroy the printouts with you financial and personal information if you need to throw them away. You should use a paper shredder first, before you throw these documents in the trash. If someone will get access to the documents that you didn t destroy, they can use the information on these documents to their advantage. For example, if a burglar sees your bank statement what shows several large purchases, he or she can assume that it will be beneficial to break into your house. The step number 10 is to make sure that you don t leave your personal and financial paperwork in the plain view: on you car seat, near your first floor window, etc. If you do, someone may see that and will be able to read this information and use it for his or her own benefit.

As you already know, internal dangers to your house are as important as the external dangers. The list of possible internal dangers is large and includes but is not limited to threats of fire, water flooding, unavailability of escape routes, electrical shortages and many others. Many of these threats can even pose a danger to your life in addition to dangers to your property. An example would be a threat of a fire. If you are unable to escape or is sleeping when the fire starts, your life is in danger. There are many different ways to protect yourself from the inside dangers and to make sure that your house, your family and your personal belongings are safe and secure. This article will list the 10 most important steps that you will need to take to protect your house from various inside dangers.

The first few steps deal with the protection of your house from fire threats. The step number 1 is to make sure that you turn off all of the gas or electrical equipment after you finished using it. For example, if you were using a grill, an oven or an iron, make sure that you turn them off when you are done. This will protect you from the possibly of a fire that is started because some electrical equipment was left on and forgotten about. Also make sure that all the electrical and gas equipment is off before you leave the house. The step number 2 is to make sure that you don t place any objects that can easily catch on fire (paper towels, for example) near the oven. If you turn the oven on, these items can light up and cause a fire. The step number 3 is to make sure that you never smoke inside your house (assuming you are a smoker). It is especially important that you never smoke in the bed. Smoking inside is one of the main causes of fires. This danger can simply be eliminated by smoking only outside.

The step number 4 is to make sure that you install a fire and smoke detection system at home. Even a simple system that involves smoke detectors that turn the siren on when they detect smoke or starting fire will increase the security of your home. An even better idea (step number 5) is to sign up for the fire system monitoring service. You will need to call a company that provides these monitoring services and to sign up with them. Your fire and smoke detectors will be connected to the monitoring system and will notify the monitoring company in a case of an emergency. The monitoring company will, in turn, notify the fire protection department.

The step number 6 is to make sure that your water is off after you are done using the bathroom and kitchen equipment. This will protect you from a possible water flooding danger. You should check your water equipment to ensure that the water in not running before you leave the house. The related step number 7 is to regularly check your water pipes and other water system equipment to ensure that nothing is broken and there are no cracks in water pipes. If anything needs to be repaired or replaced, this should be done right away.

The step number 8 is to never do any installation work that can interfere with the electrical wiring in your house. If you damage any of the wiring, this can be a cause of electrical shortage or even a fire. Make sure that you check if there is any electrical wiring in the location where you are planning to do the installation before you actually start your work. The step number 9 is to never do the installation of the equipment that operates on gas by yourself. Even a small mistake can cause a gas leakage. The last step (step number 10) is to make sure that you only hire a professional to do any work on the electrical or water equipment in your house. If you are doing an electrical installation hire a professional electrician. If you are doing a gas equipment installation hire a professional with this specific experience and expertise.

Many families and single people prefer to go on vacations during holiday periods. This presents a lot of danger to their houses and personal belongings. The main reason for this is the fact that burglars know about this vacation tendency and try to find houses that they can break into while their owners are away from home. They will try to pick the house that present less obstacles for them to break into. But the first thing that they will look at is whether the owner of the house is at home and, if he or she is not, is the owner away for a long time. The best way to protect your house when you are on vacation during the holiday season is to make your house look occupied. There are many different ways to do that. This article will list 10 steps that you can follow to protect your house by making it look like you are at home. These simple safety measures will ensure that your house is not an object of the robbery.

The first tip is to put your mail and your newspaper delivery on hold. To put your mail on hold, you can simply contact your post office and request this from them. For the newspaper delivery hold, you will need to contact your newspaper directly. You can also ask your friend or your neighbor to pick up the mail and newspapers for you. The reason why you should put your mail and your newspaper delivery on hold if the fact that letters that pile up in your mailbox and a collection of newspapers on your doorway indicate that the owner is not at home and was gone for quite a while.

The second tip is to make sure that you don t leave a phone recording that states that you are away from home. A simple message that states that you are currently unavailable is good enough. There is no need to say that you are away for a while. If a burglar will be able to find your home phone number and call you, he or she will be able to judge whether you are at home based on the recorded message.

The tip number 3 is to make sure that you have your lights on in the evening. You can ask your neighbors or friends to stop by your house in the evening and turn your light on. Alternatively, you can purchase the automation system that will turn your lights on and off at certain preset times. If is a good idea to also turn your TV or radio on and off at preset times.

The tip number 4 is to ask your neighbor to park in your driveway or on the street in front of your house. This will create an illusion that someone is at home every evening. The tip number 5 is to hire a house sitter that will stay at your house while you are gone. This will cost you some money, so whether to hire someone will depend on your budget. The tip number 6 is to ask your neighbors to look after your house and to notify the police department if they see something strange. You should also leave them your emergency contact information so they can notify you in a case of emergency.

The tip number 7 is to make sure that your doors, garage door, windows and the yard gate are all locked.

The tip number 8 is to store all of your expensive items in a safe deposit box in the bank. This will ensure that these items are completely safe and secure. You will not be using them while you are away from home so there is no reason to keep them at home while you are gone. If you don t have a safe deposit box in the bank, you can either order one or store your valuables in a safe.

The tip number 9 is to make sure that you turn your alarm system on before you leave. Installing motion detector as an addition to the alarm system is a good idea. The tip number 10 is to sign up for the alarm system monitoring service.

Radio Shack home security system comprises of a variety of security gizmos. These include wireless security systems, sirens, personal security alarms, PIR motion detectors, door chimes, stick-on window alarms, portable motion sensors, outdoor motion sensors, carbon monoxide alarms and infrared beam sensors.

Most of Radio Shack security products are unique. The most amazing is the Rex-10 Barking Dog Alarm. This alarm is high-quality digital recording of a real barking dog. The alarm can be activated with a remote key whenever a house owner hears a suspicious noise. The loud and fierce barking that erupts will scare even the most lion-hearted intruder.

The motion-sensing Door Chime/Alarm plays a similar role. When punched legally it emits a sweet chime announcing the arrival of a visitor. However, if someone wants to open the door illegally the alarm lets off a 110 decibel ear-shattering sound.

Radio Shack also sells the Reporter Expandable Wireless Alert System. This wireless device can pick up human and vehicle motion up to 30 feet, and is very suitable to guard doors, driveways, business entrances, garages, barns, storage areas etc. A key feature of this device is that it does not let off false alarms.

However, the most comprehensive security device that Radio Shack sells is Plug ‘n Power Wireless Home Security System. This wireless device can be plugged easily, and is ideal for apartments or condos. It has several unique features, which include a control console that can monitor up to 32 security zones; a keychain remote that can arm or disarm the alarm system from anywhere in the home; motion detectors, wireless door and window sensors, and built in microphone to monitor sound from a distant location.

Radio Shack also sells stick on window alarms. These wireless alarms are extremely sensitive to shock and vibrations, and are most suitable for those homes that have several glass windows and doors.

Another specialty of Radio Shack is security cameras. These systems include a video monitor, infrared motion sensing camera, remote control and connecting cables. Besides this, a customer can also buy outdoor motion sensor cameras.

Protection One Security System is one of the largest monitored security service providers in the US that installs, maintains and monitors a range of burglar and fire alarm systems.
The company has more than one million residential and business subscribers, and employs over 2,300 professionals who work out of 65 offices spread across the US. It offers state-of-the-art monitoring facilities that it constantly upgrades to meet the needs of its clients.

Protection One deploys the following equipment at the homes and offices of its clients:
SecureCell cellular backup system: It is a seamless wireless communication package, which continues to work even when the telephone lines are disrupted or cut by intruders. The central station is therefore in touch with the security system of its clients at all points of time.

Alpha keypad: It displays the protected areas where forced entry may occur and gives suitable warnings and messages. It also programs functions such as lighting, alarm arming or disarming.

Bi-directional key fob: It gives remote control of the home security operations. It operates with the push of a button, thereby removing the pain of remembering the security codes.

VIP module: It helps in controlling the home security system from telephone or cellular phone. It can be used to check or change the status of the home security system from a distant place.

SecureTouchTM: It notifies the arming and disarming of the home security system and also reveals user information.

Timex wristwatch key: It is like a remote switch that can be used to operate the security system.

Smoke detectors: Powered by the home electrical panel, smoke detectors monitor the fire condition throughout the day, even when the security system is not armed.

Carbon monoxide detector: It warns the security system of the deadly threat of carbon monoxide whenever the level of this gas goes beyond a safe limit.

Wireless panic: It offers immediate and easy access to Protection One, which can dispatch emergency personnel in case of emergency.

Glass break detectors: They are very useful in decreasing the detection time during an attempted intrusion. They activate an alarm immediately when a glass is broken.

Motion detectors: They can either provide secondary defense for a full-perimeter system or strategic protection for a system with only portions of the perimeter openings protected.

There are many different dangers to your house and in order to protect your house from all of these dangers, you will need to know what areas provide the most dangers and need your attention. If you can identify the dangerous areas and increase the security measures that protect these areas, you will be able to increase the overall security level of your house. You can also completely eliminate some of these dangers by installing security equipment in these areas. This article will identify some of the dangerous areas and will list steps that you can take to protect yourself from these dangers.

A lot of danger is coming from your doors and windows. If you have a weak door and insecure locks, a burglar will be able to break in through your door. In order to prevent this, you need to install good locks on your door and make sure that your door is strong and secure. Your windows present even more danger. The main reason for this is the fact that windows are made of glass and are much easier to break. This is especially true about the first floor windows, since they are much easier to access then the second floor windows.

There are steps you can take to protect your windows and increase the level of your security. For example, you can install enforced type of glass into your windows. This glass is much harder to break, as compared to the regular glass. By installing the enforced glass, you are reducing a risk that a robber will be able to break the glass to get into your house. It is generally a good idea to install a second layer of glass (double glass). This will even serve a double purpose by adding insulation to your house and keeping it warm in winter. Also, the locks on the windows need to be secure and hard to open. To add extra protection to your house, you can install motion detectors near your doors and windows. It is also important to mention that if you have glass sliding doors, they present a lot of danger to your house. You should make sure that they are made of at least the double layer of enforced glass. Also, you need to make sure that these doors cannot be pushed in by moving them out of the tracks. A good patio door lock may help you to prevent this. A motion detector and an alarm panel (at least a fake one) should also be installed near the glass doors.

It is also important to identify other areas that robbers may try to use to get into your house. You garage door is one of these areas. Robbers my try to break into your garage and then use the inside garage door to get into the house. There are three things that you may do to prevent this. First of all, you need to enforce your garage door and make sure it is protected and secure. Also, you need to install good door locks on the inside door that connects your garage with your house. This inside door should also be enforced. The last step is to make sure that your alarm system also protects your garage. For example, you can install motion detectors in your garage that will trigger the alarm before someone has a chance to open the inside garage door.

Other areas that robbers may try to use to get into your house include your roof. For example, robbers my try to climb to your roof and use it to get to your top floor windows, which in turn can be used to get into your house. What you can do to prevent this is to make sure that your top floor windows are protected as much as the first floor windows. Same techniques that were described above for the first floor windows can be used for top floor windows. Also, if you have ladders outside of your house, robbers my use these ladders to climb to the second floor windows and try to brake in through them. This is why it is so important to lock your ladders in the shed when you are not using them.

Honeywell Security and Custom Electronics is one of largest and most experienced manufacturer of security products in the world. It manufactures an astonishing 1,500 plus security products that are used to protect businesses, offices, factories, homes, government agencies, museums, malls and stores. It is therefore not a surprise to find Honeywell home security products being used in most homes.

The Honeywell home security products can be installed directly or with the help of First Alert Professional dealers, a division of the Honeywell company. These products are quite hi-tech and especially designed to ensure the safety and security of homes.

The first step in any Honeywell home security plan is to secure the doors and windows. For this, Honeywell uses magnetic contacts that sound the alarm whenever the distance between the magnet and the switch increases. The magnetic contacts are also placed on windows to prevent an intruder from breaking in by opening the window.

Homes that have several glass doors and windows are protected by Honeywell glass breakers. A burglar who makes the mistake of smashing the glass to enter a home will be activating an instant alarm, even if he uses scotch tape to muffle the sound of breaking glass.

The next line of security is provided by motion detectors. These detectors monitor large spaces within the house. The best thing about Honeywell motion detectors is that they are able to spot the difference between a crawling intruder and a pet weighing less than 70 pounds. This reduces the possibility of false alarms.

All these systems are activated by a Honeywell keypad. The keypad, which is installed next to the entry door, is used to arm and disarm the alarm with the help of a numeric code. Illuminated keys make it easy to operate the keypad at night.

The brains of a Honeywell security system is the control panel. It is kept in a basement or a closet. All suspicious signals are routed to the control panel which decides when to sound the alarm.

Honeywell provides both wireless and hard-wired alarm systems. The company also provides round the clock monitoring. The monitoring is done at central monitoring stations which are connected by telephone lines to the homes of a customer, police station, fire station and other emergency services. Honeywell also provides a variety of remote keys to activate the alarm system installed in a house.

If you’re looking for a home security video system you have many options. You might choose, for example, black and white or color home security video monitors, cameras that are fitted with night vision capability (or you can make any camera night vision enabled with the purchase of an adaptor), infrared equipped illuminators, cameras with pan tilt zoom features, network video recording devices or IP cameras, or wireless cameras. Your home security video system might include a digital video recording device, monitoring from a remote location or a videocassette recorder (VCR) with a time-lapse feature.

The most important part of your home security video system is choosing the right camera. Let’s look at your various options.

Your first decision in your choice of camera for your home security video system is whether you want to view in black and white or in color. A black and white camera is, of course, less expensive, but it also gives you better visibility if lighting is low. This is probably more important for some service or retail businesses such as bars and restaurants with low wattage mood lighting than it is for your home security video system. A color camera helps you identify a suspect by color of wardrobe, hair color and so forth.

You’ll next decide how much area it is that your home security video system must monitor and the time of day or lighting and climate conditions under which it will be monitoring. Some lighting systems are best used in daytime or lighted conditions and some are better for indoor than outdoor, or vice versa. There are those that will work either inside or out. You can also purchase cameras that are called day/night cameras because they can still take pictures with a high degree of visibility at night without lighting. The range of home security video monitoring for these is generally a low of six feet to a high of 50 feet.

If you know that there is one specific area in or outside of your home that you especially want your home security video system focusing on you’ll want to choose a camera with a zoom feature - either optical or digital.

If you have chosen to purchase a digital video recorder you’ll be able to use a pan/tilt/zoom camera, which will let you control the view the camera gives you.

If you think quick human response is important, you may want to choose a home security video system with accessory cameras and an observation system, as these are audio enabled as well.

While wired camera systems will work indoors you may determine that the wires are too difficult to install, too unsightly or unsafe. You might want to opt for a wireless home security video system instead.

Keep in mind as you choose outdoor cameras that just because they are labeled outdoor doesn’t mean that they will work well in the rain or at below freezing temperature. Often outdoor cameras are weather resistant when what you really should be looking for is waterproof and especially designed to withstand being directly exposed to snow and rain.

The best home security tip is the caution that you shouldn’t ever be complacent about home security.

You hear the term “safe neighborhood.” It generally means one in which the homes are more costly in comparison with other parts of the city. The fact is, however, that there is really no “safe” neighborhood. Any home in any neighborhood can be a target for a burglar or other unwelcome intruder.

In a report by the U.S. Justice Department statistics indicated that each year every U.S. family has a 25 percent change of becoming the victim of some serious crime. The same report states that a U.S. residence is burglarized every 11 seconds.

Another important home security tip is to remember, as you are preparing yourself for vigilance against burglary and other human intruders you must also keep in mind that other enemies can attack as well. These enemies are fire and carbon monoxide. The installation of fire and smoke detectors as well as devices for alerting you to the presence of unsafe carbon monoxide or radon levels are home security tips that can save your life and the lives of other loved ones in your home. You should always have fire extinguishers easily accessible and everyone should know how to use them. You should also periodically practice emergency evacuation procedures - a home fire drill. Don’t forget to periodically check the batteries on all your detectors.

One seemingly obvious home security tip is to keep your doors and windows locked, but you’d be surprised at the number of people who do not do so. Think about it. Have you ever walked to the dumpster with a bag of garbage and left the door open? Have you ever slept under an open first floor window on a hot summer night? Most burglaries and home intrusions occur between 8am and 5pm and 80 percent of burglars gain entry through open doors and windows. Lock both, preferably with deadbolts, and never leave your extra key in an obvious place such as under the doormat, outside planter, or over the door sill.

The next home security tip is to never allow strangers into your home. Even someone who appears in a utility or emergency personnel uniform should be asked for identification. Install peepholes in your doors and use them. Do not rely on door chains. These are far too easily broken.

The next home security tip is to keep lights on at night, both inside and outside. Make your home look occupied and keep the outside of your home exposed so no one has a safe unseen hiding place. Purchase timing devices that will turn on lights and maybe even a TV or stereo while you are away.

Besides a carbon monoxide detector, an additional home security tip would be to have a professional inspect your furnace or other home heat system for the emission of carbon monoxide each year before the cold season sets in. Other sources of carbon monoxide that should be checked periodically include kitchen stove, fireplace, water heater and chimney. You should never leave your car running in an enclosed area, even if it’s only for a short time.

For guarding the perimeter of your home, there are several basic home security systems.

One simple home security burglar alarm has a small button, which is used as the switch mechanism. The professionals or do it yourselfers that install the home security system embed this button into the door frame and then when the door closes the button embeds itself into the door frame so that the act of closing the door actually pushed the button in. If, however, somebody opens that door the home security button would be released. This would change the circuit on the burglar alarm and the alarm would sound.

These home security systems are, however, so basic as to be seriously flawed. The reason is that if the burglar closes the door the alarm shuts off. In order to improve the home security systems, the newest burglar alarm systems have upgraded these button systems to include a home security system control box into the circuitry.

The control box of these home security systems are joined to an alarm circuit, and sometimes more than one circuit, but they also are powered by a separate power source. This power supply monitors the home security system circuit and sets off the alarm when the circuit is broken, either by the entryway being opened or closed depending on which type of home security system is being used. The added safety feature installed with this circuit box, however, is that a security code must be entered into the home security systems keypad before the alarm will deactivate once it is set off. These home security systems’ installers are clever about where they install the keypad too, placing them in places where a burglar is not likely to locate them.

There are so many ways to use the control box home security systems. You can choose windows or doors as entryways. For a window the home security system’s current would run through a foil wire attached to your window glass. If a burglar were to break that glass, she or he would be breaking the circuit and thus setting off the alarm.

You can even incorporate your rug or floor mat into the circuitry of these highly adaptable home security systems. Your simplest floor mat, for example, would have a home security circuit installed as two widely spaced metal strips. An intruder stepping on the mat would create enough weight and pressure to bring the metal strips in contact with each other. This circuit completion would set off the alarm of this home security system.

While these open circuit and closed circuit entryway home security systems are good burglar deterrents and detectors for keeping your home free of intruders, they are only adequate for protecting the perimeter of your home. That is because there are just so many entry points from the outside of your home and it’s clear what these are - your doors and windows. It’s easy enough, therefore, to focus your home security systems on the various doors and windows when protecting the home’s perimeter.

When it comes to protecting your home’s interior, however, a burglar’s options become far too numerous for these home security systems. This is when motion detectors are the ideal home security systems.

A home security safe can protect your money and other valuables including important papers. You may not need or want a home security safe that is costly or large, but whatever your needs there is a home security safe available for online purchase that is just right for you.

You can choose from home security gun safes, safes specifically designed to prevent burglary, those specifically designed to protect from the destruction of fire, home security safes that are both burglar and fire proof, as well as depository safes. You have a choice in home security safes or wall safes, safes that set into your flooring, ones that are hidden under the counter, and safes with electronic locks. Others that are uncommon for home security unless you are exceedingly rich with an excessive large home are vaulted home security safes. You can choose to have your safe custom designed as well.

Let’s look at some of the more common choices in home security safes.

One of the most popular home security safes is a burglar defiant fireproof combination. Smith & Wesson, for instance, makes such a home security safe, in three different sizes. You would choose the one that would most comfortably house all the valuables you need to protect. Your size options are the small one shelf home security safe that is 20×20x20, the 2-shelf 30×20x20 version, or the large 3 shelf 40×20x20 safe.

These home security safes are made of solid steel and a huge door with a one-quarter inch plate of solid steel as well as material to insulate from fire. The interior is constructed of oak, with a back cover of velour. The handle is L shaped, the 3-wheel combination dial lock burglar proof, with its hard steel plate that resists drilling. The hinges are external to give you easy access to the contents of your home security safe. This home security safe has three or four locking bolts made of chrome plating. Each home security safe has four anchor holes that have been precut.

The fire wall of the home security safe protects against temperatures up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 30 minutes, and keeps the interior temperature below 350 degrees Fahrenheit, protecting the valuables inside. (Paper will not char until it has reached 450 degrees Fahrenheit.)

Wall safes are by far the most common home security safe, and one of the easiest to install. They often come with anchor holes that are precut and a flange built in to keep replastering to a minimum.

Home security wall safes are lightweight in comparison with many others, weighing between 22 and 100 pounds depending on size. Their solid steel doors range between 1/4 and 3/4 inches thick and the type of lock varies. You can choose a home security wall safe with a key lock, a combination lock with or without a key override or one with an electronic locking system.

These home security wall safes protect the interior contents for up to one hour, never exceeding 350 degrees Fahrenheit. They have side-locking bolts of steel so that the door cannot be removed.

If you’re trying to choose between a number of home security systems you might do well to look at online at what consumers who have tried the various products have to say in their home security review.

Let’s look at a few.

A UK based home security system called Audioguard had four different home security review comments, all positive. This advanced home security product is a 4 CD set that can run on any CD player. It plays a varied selection of everyday household noises that indicate occupancy as well as the latest subliminal technology, both of which act as a strong deterrent to intruders.

The first home security review consumer gave the product an overall rating of ten out of ten - couldn’t be better according to this home security review. In discussing its use of sound so that burglars think you are home when you are away, she had much praise, saying her neighbor was completely fooled and tried for 30 minutes to get their attention at the door. The Audioguard home security system, she said, is easy to use and very effective and at a great price. She recommends it to anyone.

The second Audioguard home security review gave it an overall rating of eight out of ten. Calling the home security system fascinating, he said that it worked and at a fraction of the cost of any other full fledged security system. This home security review consumer felt he had nothing to lose by trying Audioguard.

Admitting that at first he was skeptical because of its repetitious quality he then sat and listened to it again and again and realized that he was not aware of the repetition. He said that it had even fooled his wife into thinking he was at home when the house was vacant. This home security review said Audioguard’s clarity of sound was fantastic.

The third Audioguard home security review, also an eight out of ten had only one negative comment. He stated that the package included the office as well as home CD and as he had no use for the office CD he would have preferred buying them separately. He did admit, however, that the price was very low. This home security review said that the system was very realistic, worked well, and that it was easy to use. He said that both police and insurance professionals had recommended the home security product to him.

Yale’s high security communication alarm system had one home security review on this site. This reviewer gave the home security system a rating of seven out of ten, saying that while it was inexpensive its upgrades and accessories were costly. He said that it is easy to set up and install and has many options that can be customized but that the PIR does not work very well.

On another site the BT Monitor VP1000 was given a five star rating (highest possible.) This is a 24-hour wireless security product that can alert you by phone, text message or email if there is an intrusion at your home. The home security review praised it for its flexibility and ability to expand to just the right size and coverage you need and its advanced level of portability.

Home security products abound and it’s a snap to comparison shop and order online.

You can choose from home security air gun pistols and products, animal repellents, blowguns, bug detectors, diversion safes, metal detectors, pepper sprays, personal alarms, safety lights, stun flashlights, guns and batons, and tasers. The home security products dedicated to surveillance include antennas, cables and connectors, cameras and camera parts and accessories, monitors, quads and multiplexers, recorders, transmitters and receivers.

Air Guns, while styled to appear like a standard firearm are scaled the same as the real thing and easy to use. They are required by U.S. federal legislation however, to have the bright orange tip that designates they are not true firearms. To use your air gun, you merely pull the slide back, which charges the gun’s firing system. Then you just aim and pull the trigger. Air guns must, however, be cocked by hand for each shot.

Mace is not one but many different home security projects. You can choose a repellent for protection against canines, or one for bears or other wild animals. Of course, mace can be used on human intruders or attackers as well. Mace, because it is small and easily transportable, can be used not only as a home security product but to protect you while walking outdoors, hiking, camping or other wilderness or remote activities.

Blowguns are handy home security products as well. 40 calibers, they are highly durable and offer a lifetime guarantee. The usual blowgun range is more than 250 feet with a velocity of up to 350 feet a second. The blowgun darts can actually penetrate plywood.

Diversion safes deter burglars and are an excellent home security product as well. Statistics indicate that burglars will only take approximately eight minutes in a home they are burgling. What this means is that if one of your home security products is a diversion safe the burglar is likely to determine your home is too time consuming a theft effort and move onto another location.

Mace also produces pepper spray. This, along with pepper shot, wildfire, foggers, and pepper foam are highly recommended home security products or even for your outside travels. They are compact and can, in a close encounter with an attacker, give you the time and diversion to momentarily subdue your attacker while you get away.

Stun batons, flashlights and guns are home security products made to momentarily disable an intruder or attacker. They are great self-defense products. Your attacker can be rendered harmless with little exertion from you. They are ideal home security products for smaller adults, such as women and smaller men.

Taser guns are the newest in home security products and work much like stun products. When you fire your taser gun, it sends compressed nitrogen through the gun, projecting two probes a 15 foot length at up to 135 feet each second. The taser gives off an electrical signal, which is transmitted upon connection with the intended victim. Your attacker instantly loses all control of neuromuscular functions and can’t coordinate his or her bodily actions.
